I was reading an article that referred to Movable Type (MT) and thought it was pretty cool. But went I went to their site, I got really confused.
What exactly is it and what software does it work?

Here is the site, I know you can't post liks but ... http:// mt-plugins . org

mt is a journal / blog / diary / news / content mgmt system that is very, very popular. a good number of people have migrated from blogger.com to greymatter to mt over time. there are many plugins and extra goodies that have been developed for it and there is high community support.

if you have any experience with this type of tool, its a good one to use. but if you are a bit wary, there are many other valuable news / blogging tools available. btw tho, mt i believe does offer hosting packages for their program.

check the faq section on their site for detailed information. [movabletype.org...]

I've been trying out MT on a few sites as a CMS. It's pretty flexible if you can figure out the template tags and configuration. Take a look around at some WebmasterWorld threads [google.com] on the topic.

MT also has a support forum that's really good.

Once set up it's like editing an ms word document. Good stuff. The tags call in page elements, so if you don't need certain elements cut them out. I stripped out a ton of stuff then made it post into a <td>

They can also do an install for you as well, for a small fee.
