I'm not exactly sure what to call it, but I want a program that I can set to regularly sync certain files and directories with an ftp server at specified times, for example when I first login. I want to use it to keep various things (like opera bookmarks) consistent on the three computers I regularly use throughout the week.

I've poked around a bit, but everything I've looked for seems to cost at least $50, which seems a bit ridiculous.

I could probably roll my own, but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel.

Any pointers?

LOL. Ridiculous at least until you're in the situation you find yourself now. ;) How much is your time worth? Can you have a working script built inside of an hour (include the time you've taken to research this).

But if you insist - what platforms are you working with?

Most major hosts conduct a daily backup of their hosted sites at no additional charge. I know that one of our hosts just charges a $25.00 dollar restoration fee. But, you should also conduct a backup on your own also. I have all database files compressed and copied to a secure location, then set an automatic download for those files. You could try something like that.
