Duplicate Content

Would SE's consider this duplicate?

Let's say you have two sites which sell the same products but are both of a completely different design and look except for the product pages which are almost identical except they lie on different domains.

Both websites cover different topics in terms of info one is purely about selling the products and the other has a lot of informational content plus the products - so as I said the look and feel and what the site gives the consumer is very different.

But because the actual product and purchase page are almost identical would this be regarded as duplicate content?

I personally regard it as two different cars each with the same engine under the hood.

Are the Navs different?
Do the pages have different weights (Kb)?

If the answer to both those questions is no, then I would be concerned.

VT, I've been in a similar situation and everything went fine. The sites were on different servers, had really different layouts, different pricing, different shopping cart etc etc. No problem at all, just mix things up.

I have a similar situation with sydicated content on sites with unique domain names, navs, headers and footers, but same IP and similar layout.

Would this be considered a dupe penalty?
