will search engines follow all links?

I've heard that search engines only index about 500 words per page. If I have links on the bottom of pages with 1000 to 1500 words, will the engines stop crawling at about 500 words, or will they continue searching for links?

pages with 1000 to 1500 words

I think if you have pages with that many words, then you should break them into smaller pages whether or not spiders get to the bottom. You could break them into pages of 250 words and have "page 1 of x" at the bottom so the user doesn't go mad waiting for 1500 words to arrive on his screen. You then increase your website 400% and then, yes, the spiders are more likely to deep crawl your site.
