Christmas season traffic

My traffic gradually dropped 25% since 21st. Personally it makes sense because I'd imagine most people are out shopping or preparing for Christmas. In a way I am scared that my site won't recover the lost 25% traffic that took me a long time to gain. I just want to see if it is the same for other sites?

For the last 4+ years my sites have started losing traffic from the 3rd week in Novemeber (when everyone starts shopping for Christmas they stop shopping in my cat).

It always bounces back the first week of Jan, and usually big-time. Christmas week is always a disaster for most people, too late for Christmas shopping, too early for reverse seasonal shopping.

Just hang in there....the visitors will come back :)

Yep, we've historically had very poor sales in the week or so before Christmas. Your sales, and traffic, will come back after the holidays when people get back into work.

I figured it was because people believed that they could not get the goods in time, or because everyone is last minute shopping this year (see the press).
My sales (and traffic) largely stopped at the end of last week.
Interestingly I turned off all my advertising (aka ran out of money!) at the beginning of last week and still got a lot of sales!

yeah, oddly enough I've been getting a steady trickle even though I've stopped all advertising. I am even sending out Christmas-y things on the 24th- without a chance of them getting there on time. Oh well...
