I get about an average of 0.5 unique sale per day. This gives me a less than 0.1 percent of conversion rate. I have studied my logs and it seems that most traffic comes from reputable and targetted source. I am not sure why my conversion rate is so low.
Can someone suggest some ideas of where the problem might be? What are the things that I should look out for to better the conversion rate? My site also only accept payment through Paypal, are there any successful website out there that also only accept Paypal? Could only accept payment through Paypal be one of the main problem?

Could only accept payment through Paypal be one of the main problem?
Yes!
Without seeing your site, it would be hard to draw any conclusions. But most people prefer to pay for things with a credit card.
Does it look like your visitors are bailing out when they realize the only available form of payment is paypal?
With the number of uniques your site sees, you should be getting at least 6-10 orders per day.
This week, from 12/14/2003 to 12/21/2003, I have a total of 33893 pageviews/7417 visits. Out of these numbers, there were 420 views/150 visits actually went to the order summary (right at the point they will find out the payment will be processed by Paypal). And I only had a total of 5 sales this whole week.
Seeing how 30% of visitors have no referrer, this is odd to say the least. My conversion ratio is almost nill for adwords, but quite healthy for those that directly type my URL- they alredy know what to expect. Do you know what the break down is by source of traffic?
Also, how long do people stay on the site? Where do they leave?
With such data, it might be useful to usability test your site with 3-5 people in your target market.
Oh, one last thing: is your site fast?
PS: feel free to sticky me your URL.
