I've read that downloading email messages to an application on your desktop like Outlook or KMail via POP3 is not secure. What about IMAP?

Generally, POP3 and IMAP aren't secure, but I think there may be POP3 servers that support TLS encryption, which is supported by Outlook and Eudora.

I've read info that is totally contradictory to this. Can anyone confirm?
