hey everyone...

i'm considering buying one of those commercially-available templates you see all around sold through re-sellers, etc. nothing fancy, just a home page and a couple of sub-pages. but how does that work? i assume i get html code and all psd files, right? can i modify those to my heart's content? add stuff, delete stuff? create as many sub-pages as i want based on the one template?

anyone familiar with the process or having experience with this, would love to hear from you. thanks.

I just used templates to redesign two sites. One I rearanged quite a bit, but left the overall structure intact. The other I left as-is and fit my content to it.

Mine came with graphics and HTML, no PSD files but that was fine with me. I liked the layouts as they were.

I have created many sub pages from the single sub-page in the templates, remember they are just a layout, you can do what you need to get them to work for you.

What I would recommend if you are going to use templates is to use CSS to put text into them. It can be a little tricky, but it's much less graphics work, and it's also much more SE friendly.

Not to mention that the text loads instantly even if the graphics are still loading, so there is no delay for your content.

I love templates, I am much more of a programmer than a graphic designer so templates save me a fortune in time.

I know of a template web site that provides: one HTML page, graphic images, and a custom designed style sheet (CSS). You also will receive access to an online support system to help with any quesitons you may have. There is many templates to choose from. Psd's are also available.

I have used two templates for a couple of customer websites and really liked working with them.

If you are interested, please sticky me and I will send you the web address.

If you just need a couple of pages, do a search for free web page templates, there are quite a few free ones available that are pretty good.
