I tried 1000 at one time in the BCC form, it did not work, so I jsut sent 10-100 ones.

Make a distribution list in your personal address book and just send to that.

the problem will be your ISP, if you send out 1000 at one time they may shut you down for spam. If you have your own smtp server, then your hosting provider may shut you down.

The biggest problem with using CC is that you in effect share email addresses with everyone on your list. This is ok when you are sending an email between a group of friends or across a work intranet but can cause a lot of privacy problems if sent in the form of mass email.

I've had to loose three email accounts because of this, Now I use disposable accounts for everyone except my family.

when distributing say, a monthly email, what is an example of an effective tool?

i send anywhere between 650 and 800
would not go more than 800
tried once 1000 and it worked but it's faster to send 2 times 700 then once 1000 e-mails
that is for outlook express and microsoft outlook
