Webmaster Certfication

Any certification programs with exams to be passed locally?

Hello,

I'm wondering if there's any reputable webmaster certification program available with the exams to be passed and certificates obtained locally at the international authorized centers. In other words something similar to M$ developers certification program.
I'm in Eastern Europe.

What about CIW?

CIW is a recognized CERT. However view it as a rider not the staple of your resume. It can add value and enhance but I would not hire on a cert alone. Definitely do the self study instead of using money via a training center.

By the way I have a master level with them. I was told in a round of interviews that it was a factor that pushed me over the top for a job offer.

I'd like to know more about the Prosoft CIW exam, from anyone who has taken it. My previous employer paid for me to take the self-guided course (2 fat books and some test-quiz software), but they didn't sponsor me to actually take the tests and get the certification. If I want to get certified, I'll have to pay for that from my own pocket. Is it worth the effort and expense?

After working in the web hosting industry for the last 4 years - and hiring many web developers/designers/web masters - I can tell you that certification was COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT to me when hiring.

Skills and experience are what matter.

No doubt that specialized skills such as database expertice, or particular program skills such as photoshop, or flash are plusses.

I think that a deep pool of reference sites is best - that way people can view your work from a simple link.

What do you mostly seek in webmasters, HighPR?
Do you lay the impact on website promotional skills or technical savvy more? If technical do you require server side scripting knowledge from webmasters?
