1. the internet is like a city, dont go into the bad neighbourhood if you dont want any suprise of any kind.
2.Get a anti virus program or update it
3.Get a spyblocker and spy destroyer like ad-aware and update it.
4.Have a computer cleaner, so you get all the loost fils and other stuff of your computer.
5.Get a good spam mail protection and never open a email from a unknow sender, watch out for attached file from friends and other. If you have a email on your site place it like this:
webmaster at domain.com or place a image with email without link.
Feel free to ad good info how to surf the net.

You can use Internet Explorer's security zones to shield yourself from pop-up hell by turning off Active Scripting on your Internet Zone.
Then, set the default security level for "Trusted Sites" to "Medium" (which is the same as the Internet Zone is by default); and add your favorite sites or anything else that you wish to allow to use JavaScript etc. to your "Trusted Sites" zone.
Or use Mozillla...

Unfortunately, some people will take advantage of others and sleep quite soundly at night. The great thing about the internet is that it puts you in contact with millions of people you wouldn't have ever had the opportunity to be in touch with. It also puts you in touch with some real a**holes.
I would like adding (regards desktops not servers)
