Can someone help me:

where can I download UNIX operating system.

what is the difference between unix and solaris.

unix comes in many flavours all differing slightly.

Solaris along with others such as Irix and hpux are not free whereas the rest of unix tends to be open source and free.

Free unix = Slackware Redhat(if you can still get it) Debian FreeBSD(very secure) and many more.

If you are new to the unix world i do not think you can if all you have ever know is the MS world pick up a unix os and start running with it like MS.

Its the old addage "what ever the best tool for the job is".
