Moving Cold Fusion Web Host

Dear Colleagues/Experts,

I have designed 3 websites using Cold Fusion. All are hosted with the same web hosting service. My host has, off-late, been giving a lot of problems. Instead of 99% uptime, I have had 99% downtime. I am losing a lot of money, time, and other resources; not to mention the aggravation.

I have decided to switch to another hosting company. My question is: How easy is it to migrate hosts? What does the process involve? How can I ensure minimum downtime during migration?

Also, if any of you can recommend a good Cold Fusion Host, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Omkar

Hi Omkar,

The best way to switch hosts is to open your new account, put all your files there, and then switch the DNS. Once the DNS has been changed (can take up to 72 hours), take down the old site.

This way, whether you see the old server or the new one, your clients will see a version of your site.

As far as CF hosting goes, I quite like Media3.net (no affiliation, but I have a couple of site there myself).
