So I opted for 1024x768 to start with. I may eventually go exploring the high end, but for now this is about all I can handle. I was indeed surprised to find out what my website looked like - yes, I had been the ostrich with it's head in the sand on this. I've had a few glimpses of my pages at higher res, but never the needed time to really examine them all. I was actually relieved to find that my liquid percentage based layout had, for the most part, really paid off; but of course, there were those really wide paragraphs that needed fixing here and there.
What did surprise me though, was the immediate need to adjust my font size settings on my local machine and software. Everything now seemed so small and barely readable. Finding just where to adjust the font size on some programs was a challenge, and on at least one app, there isn't!
So I've spent the last couple of hours tweaking the display settings, getting just the right size font without going too big or it will become bold. Then doing it again for email, then the FTP client, ad infinitum.
Yup, change is good. The reason why we don't like it much when we get old is, we may not have enough time enough left to complete it all!
Flat screen. Yeah, I got one a few months ago and my eyes have been thanking me ever since.
You need to crank up that resolution! I'm running 1280 X 1024 on a 16" LCD -

May be time for reading glasses ;)
Enjoy the new monitor - but get some reading glasses and go hi-res! And don't forget to go back every know and then to see how your designs looks at 800 X 600...

[Moderator, let me know if you dont want this link posted, seems every mod is different and it depends on the link, etc etc. I purposely did not post the http part, so it would not take people away from the forum (in case anyone was wondering why I didnt make it 'easy'). I could perhaps repost the entire article.]

I do sit a ways away from the monitor; I'm in a recording studio with lots of other stuff sitting in front of me.
