I've gone to several websites - read them all - even a small thread on here but I don't understand. Is it a software bundle for development and if so - what does that mean? :)
Under: MSDN Subscriptions
You don't "need" a sub for any server - just for learning purposes and access to dev downloads.
MSDN library/subscription is basically ALL of the Microsoft products and updates. You get sent a library of CDs that allows you to install any Microsoft product for use in developing stuff.
You get all the OS's, office programs, server programs and so on.
You cannot use it on live or production servers, only development ones and be careful with the licensing.
If you purchase just one license, this entitles one person to use the set and no more.
A lot of people see it as a cheap way to get all the microsoft software you need, however im sure the BSA and such would have something to say about that :)
You also then get access to a wealth of online info and help, above what is noramlly available. Webchats, webcasts, access to the code centers, bug centers, user groups and forums and lots of other useful resources.
If you are lucky you might even get an xmas card from Billy Boy himself 8)
