running forum

how to increase participation

Hello,

I run a forum system but the participation is not satisfactory. many topics did not get answered and some people take time registering and then do nothing on the forum. I can only answer a few questions that is in my field.

I wonder if I should hire some paid moderator to help me, and if you guys pay people to moderate your forum.

Hi newbies,

I'm not sure that anyone here is paid to moderate. I think they all do it for the collective kudos and a hearty handshake and a pat on the back each month.

I'm not sure if it's any help, but there was an interesting discussion about trying to kick start a forum on this thread...

...dunno if you've seen it or if it'll help, but it there might be a tip or two there until some more experienced folk offer you advice.
