I've recently bought a new PC and I want to transfer all of my Microsoft Outlook Express files to the new PC from my old one. This will include all stored emails and address books etc.

Im not sure how to do this, can anyone help.

Hi Chairwars,

A cheap 'n' cheerful way of doing the transfer is to simply do a search for all your .dbx files on the old machine and copy them into the respective directories on your new machine. This will overwrite any mail folders on your new machine however, so be careful if you have existing information on the new machine.

Good luck

A couple of additional notes:

If you would rather put the files in a different location on the new machine, you can change the message store location. Just put the OE folder wherever you want, then tell OE to change the message store to that folder(Tools>Options>Maintenance>Message Store).

Your OE address book is not stored in the same folder with your .dbx files - make certain you get it also. Select the address book icon, open the address book, then select "about Address Book" from the help menu. That will show the name and location of your address book.

Thanks guys. I've found all the files, seems straight forward enough. I haven't got any files already set-up on the new PC so it shouldn't be a problem.
