I've really only messed with simple image maps a couple times over the years but now I have a need for a more complex map to combine alot of little images into a single one (to reduce webpage load time and increase rendering smoothness).

Surprisingly I am having a hard time finding some proven tools out there.
Any suggestions? Looking for simplicity in interface but has to get the job done of course

For super complex ones I've turned to programs like Fireworks or Dreamweaver.

Lol, so I've got to install a 50 meg+ program eh? Sigh. So much for good old notepad ;)

I find it hard to believe no one in all these years has created a lean, mean, but powerful & intuitive image mapper. I vaguely remember CoffeeCup having one? Anyone use it?
