i've read some of the old threads but thought i'd ask this and hope to get great feedback/suggestions:

we have 1 domain with fairly low resource demand. we're gradually outgrowing our 400mb disk space but are okay with the current 15gb bandwidth. this is over my (techie) head but we have

Linux Apache version 1.3.28 (Unix) PERL version 5.6.1 PHP version 4.3.3 and MySQL version 4.0.15-standard all of which we apparently need (and access to secure url for c/c processing). Our email system is Horde and we use Cpanel which we all love.

It seems that we need a little room to grow and we've had a few "server hard drive disasters" over the 2 weeks. At minimum we need to keep all of the above-mentioned techie stuff...

So the questions are these:

1. would it make sense to move to a dedicated server?
2. either dedicated or shared, any suggestions for a reputable/reliable hosting co with excellent support would be appreciated.
3. and of course any and all words of wisdom (based on experience) are more than welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if suggestions (company names) is against the terms of this forum, but i think so. So, in general terms:

There are shared solutions that can provide the disk space you need - i've seen packages that are much larger than the one you're currently on. Your software requirements are pretty much standard too - the term for the "secure URL" is SSL i believe, and that is widely available as well.

As for email, there are even hosting companies specializing in that, so you don't need to use the same host as you do for web space. This might be worthwhile, as then your email will work even if your web server is down.
