Starting today, perhaps just a few hours ago, when I type in a URL into my browser that does not exist (in other words, there is no record of the domain), I am taken to

[sitefinder.verisign.com...] ... This never happened before today. I would normally get the page cannot be found blank page and that would be that. This redirection is really messing things up for me. In windows explorer I have disallowed searching from the toolbar. I also ran my computer through spybot search and destroy as well as adaware. They found some references to xupiter in the registry, but that was it. I removed them, but my IE will still go to that darned verisign site.

Has anybody else had this experience?

To see what i mean, type into your browser [somdomainthatdoesnotexist.com...]

Before, it would just say site not found, but now my
browser redirects to

[sitefinder.verisign.com...]

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

actually, I just tried my other computers, and netscape. It all did the same thing.

Please do not tell me this is the related to that spam I have been getting over the past year "The next boon in the Internet Keyword Ownership" or whatever. Is this all part of the Verisign monopoly on the Internet?

Is this just me?
