Hi Visit_Thailand

Their site is still selling 2003, as you probably know.

I'm still using 2001 - LOL. I use a different brand of AV since Norton's AV could never seem to find it's definition library when booting and I became weary of 'fixing' it. IMO, the firewall part hasn't changed that much and I feel it does the job adequately even though my version is a couple years old. But I'm also using a router, which adds a lot of security.

Anyway, this will give you a boost back to the top.

Hi Keylpyr - Thanks.

If you are still on 2001 I recommend you to upgrade purely because it is faster (less system resourses etc).

It is a pity nobody knows about 2004 though.

2004, due out in the UK in September. Search for 'Norton Internet Security 2004' on amazon.co.uk

Actually, ever since I dumped all the AV stuff, it's been lightening fast. It's those endless virus definitions that megafy the program. Also, I moved much of the permissions and rules over to the router mask.

Thanks PCInk took a look at amazon.co.uk and with such a close launch date I am surprised there has not been reviews on cnet, zdnet and the like.

From what it says on amazon it sounds as if they have dramtically improved the Spam Email filtering system. I sure hope so.

If anyone comes across an independant prof. review please do let me know.

I've also been hunting for reviews for Norton Internet Security 2004 given my 2003 updates subscription expires in a couple of days.

Only thing I've found is here on Cnet http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-3681_7-5071995-1.html

As you can see they make negative comments about Nortons product-activation requirement which now applies. Apparently you can only instal 5 times then you face expensive support calls.

The Cnet review of the 2004 Anti Virus component was lukewarm - basically not worthwhile upgrading from 2003 because of imperfect anti spyware functionality. Norton Internet Security 2004 also includes their new anti-spam product and I recall seeing a fairly negative review of it. Just tried to find it again and can't. However found this one (not sure how credible) & it's positive. http://www.lasplash.com/article_140.shtml

Hmm - think I'll wait a few more days...

It has been quite a few days now and NIS 2004 is out in some countries.

Anyone using it over 2003, what do you have to say about it?

I will buy it as soon as I see it in the shops over here but am curious, especially about their anti-spam product.
