So after my day of fighting the Blast.exe virus which tried to get into my system I declared war on all security aspects.

I was receiving many unwanted pop up ads on my screen every hour, one of the most annoying was 'ShowBehind'. As a php programmer and web designer of course I am downloading many tools.

Nearly every download I made placed a small script in a directory deep into my system. After a few months my computers are running sluggish, plus an increase in spam mail even to email addresses that I have never published on the Internet.

So I download the Zone Aware firewall now I feel a litle more protected. Then I download the Spybot removal tool and to my horror I have over 20 different programs running in the background all feeding information to the advertisers. This is why I have all those nice pop messages and spam mail. Every web site I visit every click every hour spent was being sent to the advertisers and spammers.

I have now deleted all the spyware from my PC since then no pop up have occured and have reduced my spam mail by 50%. Whenever you download programs those nice little terms and conditions should always be checked out, even though sometimes they don't mention the spyware programs.

Give you system a clean up it will thank you for it.

I also recently put Zone Alarm on my computer and couldnt believe the amount of spyware on my computer. I began using Kazaa before it was notorious for its spyware, as well as many other free programs which also put this spyware on my computer. Within a couple days of using ZA, most of it was under control.
