I have been searchin the net for hours and can not find any answers to my question, what can i do to format a CDR/RW to use it just like a floppy disk. I just want to get data from another computer that doesnt have a CD-Burner, so i can bring the data home and finalize and close the disk on my computer. I have done it before on a different computer, but now i can not remember how i did it. So if someone can help me, that would be awesome! Thanks!

I think you are asking how can you record data onto a CD-RW using a machine that does not have a CD burner. If that is the question, the answer is, you can't.

I have never heard of a program that would allow a machine without a burning laser to write to a cd. I don't think its possible. The machine has to be equiped with a CD-R and a good burning rom that will not finalize the disk. I would recommend Nero myself.

Hello bladediablo1

You will probably need InCD(Nero) or DirectCD(Adaptec?) that comes with the writer to format the media in UDF format that can work like a floppy disk. The CDRW disk will become smaller (400 MB?), as it has a portion that consist of UDF reader software that needs to be installed for a normal CDROM drive to read the disk.

You will still need a CDRW writer on both end though. :)

I guess I'm confused. In your original post, you wrote:

So it sure sounds like you want to copy data from another machine that doesn't have a CD burner ;)

And welcome to WebmasterWorld!
