I just caught this UA in a log file:

Nokia7110/1.0 (04.73)

It's coming from a site called:

www.motionbridge.com

Is this a robot for WAP service? Or is this an actual WAP user?

Well, I got 4 hits fromt he same thing yesterday, so it seems like an awful big coincidence that two people on these forums were visited by a Nokia product from the same originating point within a day of each other...

I'm guessing it's probably a spider of some sort trying to build a directory of WAP capable sites. Did it request a non-existent /wap/ directory from your site too?

Yep they went for the same directory. I wonder if I should go ahead and create one. Who knows? Might be good but does it have to be in some format I wonder?

But I think you are right, they must be building some sort of WAP DB for Nokia products.

I just dug around on their site a bit... they offer a cellphone directory of WAP sites, with a browsing structure that makes it easier for a cellphone browser to search their database.

You'd have to write the pages in WML... it's a super stripped-down markup language. I looked up some info on it a while ago, and decided that not too many people would be buying solar panels in Alaska over their cellphones, so I didn't look into it much further.

And I think your web server needs to be WAP enabled, so that WAP devices are correctly identified and sent to the correct location, but I could be wrong about that part.
