The question is what would you suggest to figure out a sliding scale cost projection of how much it would cost to host the site based on number of users, bandwidth used per user, and storage used per registered user. for example if we have 1 million users per day (I wish!) downloading x amount file sizes and storing x amount in their registered accounts, our daily cost would be x dollar amount.
I would appreciate any suggestions or referrals as to how to pursue this cost estimation process? Thanks in advance...
My understanding is you need to work from the bottom to way up. Firstly your costing will start from your bandwidth and storgage space. Crusal is bandwidth. If you thinking of downloading music then you need to get a strong bandwidth like fiber optics. Again bandwidth is important interms of how many user requesting to your server. Then comes the storage space. Storing all this music required big hard drive. with the 'user account' you just need SQL server or you can even do it on access database.
(Bandwidth + storagespace)- profit = The real money[profit]
I hope this helps
