anyone know what cable to use from an ethernet card to ethernet internet connection in a hotel room....crossover or straight or doesnt it matter?

bring co-ax as well, especially if you are in somewhere a bit less developed than it could be, or a cheap hotel. nothing like saying "unlimited interent in all rooms" as a selling point... and not mentioning it's a co-ax/token ring at 8000 baud....

I think most hotels offering you an internet connection these days are doing it on a WIRELESS connection.

that would ok too since the laptop has it built in....i've never used it though...i hear its actually slow but the laptop would find the signal on bootup i assume?

Go over to the wardriving site and grab some software that will help you locate the open wireless signal. Your wireless card may have some software that will do the same thing.
