This "client" almost made me lose my virtual server.

This to be precise: 12-213-219-211.client.attbi.com

It's something from at&t
Can I just ban this IP or is somethng I should be glad about, like googlebot?

Thanks,
Remy

That's AT&T Worldnet, an ISP.

Probably just some wingnut playing with a bad-behaving spider.

How does the saying go? "spiders don't kill servers, people kill servers." ;)

If they're still hitting you, you can block the IP, but soon enough that IP will probably belong to someone else.

You can report it to abuse@att.net

Thanks a lot.

They pulled 4 Gig from my server this morning (have only 250MB diskspace)

Just found out they pulled 4,2Gig last month as well. (22% of total)
With the same ip address btw, so it could be a static one.

Probably a cablemodem customer. Those IPs change only rarely, in my own experience, it can take 6-8 or more weeks, usually after powering down the cablemodem.

Block the IP. Just know that eventually they could have a different one. If I was up to no good, I'd power down my cablemodem fairly often to try and get new IP addresses as frequently as possible. Hope he's not reading :)
