DSL line help!

i talked with the isp today.

he said with the dsl line, i would get about 1000 kilobits/second on the upload. this he said, translates into about 20 users at a time. the cost is $1000.00/YEAR.

then, if i need to upgrade to a T1, he said the cost jumps to about $1800.00/MONTH and the upload is only 1500 kilobits/second! what!!!
isn't this difference a bit ridiculous?

i think i have the solution, buy more than one dsl line and if required run parts of a site off of each.

any comments/suggestions/ideas about this?

That sounds too good to be true for 83 bucks a month. Around here its about 250 a month for a DSL with DEDICATED 1.5 upstream and downstream. ADSL I believe is cheaper but not dedicated bandwidth.

ya, that sounds like your getting sdsl and what i would be getting is adsl because the download is at 7000 kilobits
which is different than the upload but with sdsl up and down are the same. sdsl isn't even in my area!

what your getting with sdsl i assume is 1500 kilobits. they want to charge me $1800/month for a so called T1 line at a 1500 kilobit rate! so, i think, if required i could just buy more dsl lines, if this would work?

IMHO unless you're a Linux guru I wouldn't attempt to administer a server. It just seems so much easier to pay someone to do all that Linux babble crap and concentrate on what makes money. I don't even think about NT....been on NT and been on *nix and there is a BIG difference. At least I think so.

I'm struggling with a Linux install right now for the 8th time. I hate this...I'd much rather build web sites than mess with all this cryptic, 10 different ways to do something but you can't do jack till you read this 4" book on command line mumbo jumbo....:(

I mean we're computer scientists not rocket scientists....heehee

i don't mind so much, since i'm afraid of windows. that is so funny! "linux babble crap". what's the problem with your install?
