Can't Ping Domain

quick question

a friend of mine has a site pointed at mydomain and is unable to ping the URL. Will this affect crawling?

I don't think so, unless the site in unaccessible via http. Many server admins do not allow pinging og their servers, as it can be used in the "Ping of Death" attack.
