Hi,

I was searching for information on a search engine page called:- Intelisearch and came across this forum with an old thread which I was unable to post to:- Intelisearch any idea who they
might be? Picking every domain with decent pagerank

The reason I was looking for this information is that they have taken one of my domain names, which I am desperate to get back. I did not cancel the domain name, just asked to transfer to another hosting service and for the last 7 months have been trying to find out how this happened, after being sent all round the houses with my previous host, who moved their support to someone else, who did not have control of my domains ect, this has gone on and on, and now I notice that Intelisearch is using my domain. How can this happen? If I do a look up on my domain, the page information is not in my name and says it is not transferable, although I paid the money to register. Is there some kind of governing body who looks after the way host and ISP's operate? I have emails that show everything that has happened and feel none of this is my fault, and just want my domain back.

Regards

takagi

Hi Steve_R, welcome to WebmasterWorld.

You mean this [webmasterworld.com] thread? It sounds like domain name hijacking. A search [google.com] on this site might give you some more advice.

First of all, you need to collect more information.

Check the whois database to see if you are still registered as the owner. To do so, you could go to www.alltheweb.com and search for the domain name (like www.mydomain.com) and click on the 'who owns' link.

You might read there also where the site is now hosted. If not, use trace route. Go to MS-DOS mode (if you are on a windows PC) and type

tracert www.mydomain.com

(replace mydomain by the real domain). This will give a list of all connections between your PC (at the top of the list) to the server (at the bottom). The lines just above the bottom tell you where the site is now hosted and can also give you an indication in what country it is hosted.

Your profile doesn't tell if you are in America. You also didn't write in what country your site was registered.

Hi,
I am based in London, but the domain is a .org extention and used to have visitors from all over the world. I spent a great deal of time and effort submitting it to all the search engines, and trying to get a good listing. It is so annoying because I tried for months to get this domain back where it belongs, but feel the previous host just gave me the run around.
The last visit on the tracert shows this address
216-185-122-139.theplanet.com [216.185.122.139]

If I do a whois, I am no longer the registrar, and can't work out how this has happened..
