Hello,

I have some virtual domains but I am not getting much traffic from them.

How would this look to the search engines- if I put the same logo and navigation on the "virtual" sites as I have on real site. I will make the content enough different so that editors are not likely to disqualify me.

The links on the virtual site should connect to the normal pages on my site. The content on the virtual sites will be customized (somewhat) to fit the virtual domain.

Comments?

Not sure I understand -- you're saying you have a "real" web site, and then you also have other domains that point to the web site? Is that right?

The first question you need to ask is this: am I doing this to serve my users or to serve the search engines? If your answer is the latter, it's probably a bad idea. If your answer is the former, it's probably a good idea. Serve your users and you will keep the search engines happy (usually).

In other words, creating a bunch of 'virtual' sites with links that only send people back to the 'main' site serves no purpose for your users. Bouncing them from one site to another is an inconvenience and a recipe for confusion. And this kind of practice has long been frowned upon by all search engines.

Better idea: take all your extra domains and set up 301 redirects to your main domain/site, and then focus on optimizing that site as best you can to serve your users and the search engines simultaneously.

Good luck!
