Hi,

[gvu.gatech.edu...]

... has some graphs that might help!

A Google for "Monitor Size Survey" found this, and several more.

I just asked my wife this question, yesterday. She sees hundreds of users over several weeks. The amount of 15"'ers is about 50% she suggests.

Bearing in mind most people will still run at 800*600 simple because they don't know any better ;)

Assuming thats what you were getting at ofcourse

Maybe it's more about resolution than about monitor size.

If so you may check:

thanks
actually I am not ref to resolution
but to monitor size

I have a user with a 15" @ 800
telling me that on a site PHP MySQL driven with
a DHTML bar that the nav bar bleeds on content

so I am trying to figure what the stats are about 15"

Got to get a 15" in to have a look at the problem
many users with the same setup do not have his nav bar problem

is there any utility that allows seeing how a page will look when seen from 17", 15", 14" etc...

no, because thats a variable, depending on the user's chosen [or default] resolution; there are html editors out there (or simple javascriptlets) that will resize to different resolutions, however.

henryo - This user does have the browser window open to 100% percent, I presume? And your image is slightly smaller than 800 X 600 to fit within the frame? And you have confirmed her monitor is actually set at 800 X 600? And when you resize your own monitor to 800 X 600 all is normal?

I think this is really a resolution, and not a monitor size issue. You could always send her a JPG of an 800 pixel ruler and see if she can see the whole thing...or anything sized the width of the image she is now unable to display properly...

Mardi_Gras
yes I have done tests in 800 and even opening the IE search
which really resize down a page and still do not get bleeding or scroll bar
my pages are PHP generated @ 100% witdth
and resize nicely
I really think that one user has a problem in its own setup
thanks

PS
However the link to monitor stats is a great one
too bad the site publishing it did not update their data
