problem with wildcarded DNS

anything.domain.com - sometimes works, sometimes not

I have 2 domains, let's say:
domain.lv
domain.lt

One hour ago [anything.domain.lv...] was working fine, but when I tried to access [anything.domain.lt...] - I got "finding site anything.mydomain.lt" and then "Cannot find server....page can not be displayed". I checked httpd.conf file, zone files, but nothing wrong - both domains have similar settings. I restarted DNS services, Apache, but no success - wildcards for domain.lv work fine, but for domain.lt not.

At the same time i was able to access both domains with "www" and without "www".

After some hour both domains started to work fine with addresses like [anyword.domain.lv...] and [anyword.domain.lt....]

Today the same situation.

It happends every day. I am getting crazy...

How long ago did you set up the wildcard DNS? It can take several days for the DNS changes to propogate across the DNS system, not to mention the various web caches you might be going through that might still be storing a 'not found' result for the domains.

Sorry if this is no help, but I can't think of anything else that would cause an intermittent problem like that.

i know about propagation process. wildcarded dns i started to use some 5 months ago. from time to time i have this problem.

as i wrote i have 2 domains with wildcarded dns. it never happends that both domains are not acessible at the same time, but only one of them.

is it possible that the problem is not my server but my internet services provider? from time to time i have a similar problem when browsing internet:

for example, i open site www.domain.com. it works fine and all parts of this page open immediately.

then in another browser window i try to open www.anotherdomain.com. nothing loads. i can enter as many addresses as i want, but nothing loads. at the same time domain.com works fine. after some 10-15 minutes this problem is gone and i can open all sites.

I have seen this problem before. And the problem was because of a bad DNS server. Look at your cached answer for the DNS query. If your DNS server is not answering the query correctly, bingo, problem found. I would suggest using a different DNS server. BTW, what software do you use to power your DNS server?

I use BIND 9.2.1

DNS server is answering queries correctly.

Some time ago I reinstalled the whole server and all services. Before I used older version of RedHat and older version of BIND. The same problem I had before reinstallation.
