I'd like to provide support for my website but I would like to do it without using email. I find email a big hassle and annoying because you get so much spam. I was thinking of making a php script that allows people to send messages to me and then I could reply on the website. Or support through an instant messenger program. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

sounds like a support forum, maybe phpBB?

hotscripts.com has many "customer service" solutions like this from free to paid for php/cgi scripts for around 100 USD to hosted services at around 20 USD per month.

We have used two, and have been very happy with both. With increasing competition in this area of late, prices have plunged.

Yes, I spose a messageboard would be enough. It would allow people to ask questions and so on. Plus, it's available for everyone so you don't answer the same question over and over again.

You don't say what sort of a web site you have, but a messageboard would also be useful in creating some sort of community, if that's what you wanted. Other users might volunteer support, relieving you of some of the work.
