Hi,

My site was hacked into during march, the hacker placed a robots txt file into my server. ever since then the site has not been on google. i removed the file quite late i suppose but its been aprrox 2 months the site hasn't been on google.

if i type in my address in google it says

Find web pages that contain the term "www.mysite.com"

normally it would say for an invalid address

If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: www..com
Find web pages that contain the term "www..com"

The if you click on links:(mysite) then you see approxametly 800 links. What i do not understand is that google is reading the links that point to my site but it is not accessing the site itself

please can you give me some advice

Check your FTP logs...

If you have a static IP then you should be able to see when he/she hacked the site/ftp and then track it back to wherever it come from. Contact there ISP and they will help you sort it out.

Long process but fruitful...

I am a fairly new webmaster and do not know what to do, i dont' know how to read my log files i don't think i even have any. I wouldn't mind getting that paticular person in trouble but all that i would like is the site to be in google

I would try re submitting the site and maybe also G a email telling them about your problem I think that would be the best route in

Mohammed,

I would contact google on:-

help@google.com

Put, in the reference of the email, "Mohammed - WebmasterWorld"

And explain in the text what's happened, or put the URL to this posting.

Sounds to me like google still has your robots.txt file cached.

Check that you have completely cleaned up the robots.txt file - or better still, delete it and create a new one.

<edit>

You didn't actually say exactly when you deleted it - it could take two months for you to get back in the index.

Can you be a little more specific?

</edit>

Yeah, I've already done that. The only thing google have said is sorry everything is an automated process. i've gone to addurl.html, done that a few times.

is it banned from google now. its just all that hard work into getting links pointing to that site its all of no use.

I have no real interest in your URL I'm afraid!

Posting it is also a breach of the Terms of Service of this board.

But if you can answer my original question, we may be able to help...

Sorry whats the question, i thought that the url would help. Sorry about posting the url.

The site was a rank 5 originally
top ten for for certain keywords
if type in link:xxxx.com it still shows 800 links odd even though the site isn't on google

thats all the info i have

So you've been out of the index for six weeks since deleting.

That sounds about right to me. I think you could be out another month assuming you're not in this index - have you checked the SJ server?

I know it's a pain, but that timescale seems about right to me.
