I have a slide show on my site and someone has been accessing the images in an endless loop for a day now. The referrer isn't shown as the page that contains the slide show, though, so I'm a little confused on how or why they are doing this. I don't think they just left the page open, particularly since there doesn't seem to be any cache in existence (no 304's, just 200's). It just keeps requesting 10 different images over and over and over.

I changed the names of the images this morning, so now I'm just getting 404 errors continuously. It's driving me crazy! (But at least the bandwidth bleeding has ceased).

I'm suspicious that they are linking remotely to the images. Is there any way to confirm that? And anyone have any great ideas on what I can do about this? Is there any way to break their connection? I tried to block their ip from my cpanel and the 404 errors just kept coming.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it's not uncommon for webmasters to try and same bandwidth by linking directly to a product image on someone else site.

the referring URL should give you the site which is taking your images. Create a small compact image of your logo and website and rename it to all the different images you think are being stolen.

you can sticky me if you want and i will dig deeper
