I have been doing some boxes using graphics for the borders and then stretching them to fit the size of the box.

Also I have a transparent pixel gif image that I use as a sapcer to ensure boxes size to the right dimensions.

Now occasionally I find that the resized images on the page don't get displayed. Instead I get the lovely little Box with a red x button telling me the image is broken. (And it is defiantely there!)

I thought it was only affecting resized images to begin with, but I then found that it seemed to affect small files, not files over 1k.

After checking out on the server logs, I found that the browser isn't requesting them.

This leads me to wonder if it is a caching problem as it occurs on the pages that have caching disabled, but then when I turn off caching from the page the images still don't load. I did double check and content expiry is disabled.

We have IIS and I have been trying to figure out what I can do to fix this.

Refreshing the page via F5 or pressing the refresh button does work, but is not really good enough as it is the first impression of the site that suffers. It doesn't look altogether professional with missing images all over the place.

Please somebody help!

Hello mirago, Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

It sounds like what you are referring to is a known bug in IE6. I too experience it periodically. If you can refresh and they appear, it is most likely the browser bug.

I've looked through trying to find relevant bug details through the Microsoft KB but to no avail.

I was just getting a bit nervous that it seemed to affect our site more than most.

Ta for the welcome by the way :)
