Google: Better to submit a new site, or let it be found by Googlebot

Last month, I started a new site, which was relative in nature to another site that I already have. I put several links to the new site throughout various places on the old site ...

The old site gets crawled regularly by GoogleBot ... But as of yet (better than a month now), GoogleBot still hasn't paid a visit to my new site yet ...

Should I go ahead & submit the new site to Google, or just wait until GoogleBot finally visits it through on of the links on my old site?

As always, thanks in advance for your replies :-)

It won't harm the site to submit it

Hi:

I agree with tigger. Submit (once!) will not hurt. But after that, forget about it, and get some links in from good, popular sites... heck, ANY sites!

Two VERY important things- good, original content. And links in. And then more links in. Then add more, good, original content. Maybe get some more links in (you can possibly do tghis while adding more, original content!)

You get the idea! :)

Good Luck!

I have to agree, but it is a long process to getting listed if you get the page started too late to be deepcrawled for the update. I started a thread about this last month, [webmasterworld.com...] and it now seems to have turned more into a diary of the ups and downs along the way to being listed.

It shouldn't matter either way. It might be faster to submit though if your link development isn't coming along too well.

I could go on for days as to how to get in to Google very quickly but that's for another time and another place.
