I always have music in my PC at home - I chose the CD depending what mood I'm in. When someone loads music onto a page and it plays against my choice I get very hacked off. Not least beacause, for example, greensleeves does not mix with Funk. Fact.

God could you imagine what it would sound like with Greensleeves mixed with some thrash metal

Let me choose if I want to hear it, then maybe I'll find something to mix it with :)

On sites selling or promoting music I have no problem at all - but to play the music there should be a clear interface to do so and give the user that option.

Tech question: How could I provide a way for users to turn on/off background sounds, then have them play/not play automatically as that user moves from page to page?

Anyone have experience with providing a voice option on, for instance, HTML slide shows? How did you implement it, and how did the users respond?
