Hi,

I need a webhost that'll just host one page. I have a webstore that is too long to remember and need another page that'll link to that webstore. I have already registered an easy to remember domain name, but just need to switch to another webhost. My current host doesn't let me edit the page I created. I actually have to use their crappy template which doesn't cut it for me. I want to be able to create my own META tags and such so I can rank high on search engines. Currently, I pay only $8 a year for the webhost that's hosting that one page. I need another host that has the same rates, but better service (faster transfer rate regardless of peak hours, no downtime, and allows me to upload my own html page.

Please let me know. There are tons out there that has a monthly fee, but that's too costly for my simple single page.

For $8 per year you should reasonably expect - and apparently are getting - no service whatsoever.

You either need to be be willing to pay a reasonable fee or accept the type of service that one would expect when forking out, what, about 75 cents per month? :)

If they take a phone call from you at that rate they've lost money on the contract...You get what you pay for, and you are not paying for much :)

A cup of coffee at a restaurant might only cost the restaurant 10 cents. But they charge you a dollar - it costs to buy the cup, the lid, the coffee, the machinery, the person who pours it, the person who brings it to you, the lights, the rent, the taxes, etc.

Whether your site is 1 page or 1000, the overhead and cost of setting it up and maintaining it is the same. You want a one-page host, go to geocities and get it for free.

Actually, if you scrub the web, you can find some good deals like 10mb for $6 a year including PHP/MySQL. I've been testing one now for about six months and like what I see so far. Don't get me wrong, I'm a firm believer of "you get what you pay for", but a few small sites are doing well on these plans.

I always recommend a site to my clients that is $25 for domain registration and 20MB of space. After monitoring it for two years and using it myself I have come to the conclusion that it is a good service. They give you php, mysql, a great admin control panel, and reply quickly when you submit a support ticket. I do not wish to break the charter by dropping the url, so if you want my info on this site you can sticky mail me.
