How about we start a thread that explains what you have done to get listed on major search engines and get more hits?

I have built this site <edit> and the traffic is going up every day, but I want to know of other ways to get more traffic and get listed.

One way is to drop your site link into a very high PR forum, and hope that the moderators don't spot it.

This is not a subject that could be explained in single thread. In fact, the vast majority of existing threads on this site are concerned with this one way or another ;)

Although g1smd's suggestion can work, it's not really a long term way of getting visibility. However, the principle is good - all you need to get your site indexed by search engines that matter is to have some high profile incoming links. And then of course, you need great content for the SEs to find when they get there...
