I am not sure if it can be done, but I saw that fark.com link verifier (beer.fark.com) was on my site. Is there anyway I can block this?

Thanks,
Pink

Well, you can read about how to Prevent remote linking of Images on a site [webmasterworld.com], or Finally! A courteous image thief [webmasterworld.com].

This one discusses a Ruling Handed Down in Danish Deep Linking Case [webmasterworld.com].

Hope this helps some.

Hi Pendanticist,

You know I wanted to make a nice image of not so nice content, but I did not. I really wanted though!

So, I renamed the image and deleted the old one from my server. Now I will use my htaccess to see if I can get permanent results.

Thanks so much for all the help...

I have another question. I saw this on one of the posts you have mentioned.

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER}!^http://yoursite.com/ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER}!^http://www.yoursite.com/ [NC]
RewriteRule [^/]+.(gif¦jpg)$ - [F]

Now -- the question is, when I save it, do I use the (.) on .htaccess or just plain htaccess?

Thanks

Yes, you include the . and upload in ASCII mode.

Dmorison,

LOL -- I thought of that as well, but I just think that getting this type of attention may not be what I need. Who knows who the heck I am dealing with -- I think that they do not care about their actions, thus I rather keep them far away from my mind and my website.

But it sure was a great idea, I too thought about it ;-)

Marcs,

I have used ANSI -- I don't see the ASCII mode, what should I do? Sorry for all the questions :)

Which FTP client are you using, that has no ASCII upload feature?

As an alternative, might I suggest looking for WS_FTP LE, from the folks at http*//www.ftpplanet.com/download.htm, all the way at the bottom.

WS_FTP LE is the limited edition version of WS_FTP Pro, allowing only multiple file transfers and the auto re-get or resuming feature. WS_FTP LE is shareware, available for free to educational users, government employees (U.S. local, state, federal and military) or to non-business home users only. View the LE license agreement for qualification on using WS_FTP LE.

There are a variety of FTP clients out there, to be sure. I happen to have used this one for years and see no reason to change.
