So,

if a blog is open to the public (but requires registration) should entries be subject to approval?

Or, should they be entered into the system immediately and left for the administrator to monitor and edit/delete innapropriate contributions?

The potential for abuse is a factor but so is the appeal of a more 'forum like' approach.

What do you think?

Up to the publisher i would say. Most blog systems allow you to do either. As you say its a choice between instantaneous publishing or reviewed, which has to wait for human review.

We let them through but check them daily and edit if necessary, but if you have more than say 20 or so comments a day, it may become a chore.

We think people love to see their comments/entries published instantaneously, and it will encourage them to post. If someone abuses the system more than once or twice, they can just be removed, if its a registration system.

Hi Chiyo,

>We think people love to see their comments/entries published instantaneously

That's certainly my thought. I guess I could build a pre-moderated flag into the members system for suspect users.

But, that mey well be over-complicating the issue. Sure there might be more work involved going through comments but, if folks are there, providing content it should work out ;)

Thanks!
