Have been looking at traffic to one of my sites for the month (an online computer product store). Noticed a significant drop in traffic between the first week (3/2 - 3/8) and the second week (3/9 - 3/15). My Google hits were down over 30%. Oddly, the site PR remains the same as it has been for months and the number of pages indexed by Google actually increased between the first and second weeks of the month.
Curious how others are doing traffic wise.
Affiliate sales are still strong--down a little, maybe, but noticeably higher than in February.
I certainly can't blame any traffic drop on Google, which continues to provide about the same percentage of my referrals as usual.
The daily numbers are behaving totally different than in the past though. Yesterday the numbers where fairly normal for a Monday till about 2 hours before the shrub gave his speech and everything just about stopped.
Today is down around 15% from normal.
People are afraid to invest in a vacation or book flights with the threat of terrorism hanging over their heads. The fact that so many of the big airlines are in serious financial trouble also doesn't help in the least. This doesn't bode well for the travel/vacation industry at all!
