Heads Up: Hackers leaving anti-war messages

Are your site backups in good order?

If all your sites don't have complete, current backups, a very good time to look after that would be NOW.

I've been hearing about websites being hacked and having content replaced with anti-war or other messages. A friend of mine had his site defaced within the last few days, and I've heard second- or third-hand reports of other hackings. My own logs show a lot of requests for files that don't exist (more than usual); I'm guessing that's from someone out there scanning for security holes ...

A word to wise webmasters: the issue of keeping up-to-date backups for your website's content should be upgraded from "normal good practice" to "urgent ."

I guess you could call it - level orange.

Time to get the duct tape and plastic sheeting for the hard drives.
