This may not be the right forum for my question but I'm desperate and thought you guys may be able to help. Last week I put a dsl box into an office I do some contracting for and then put a soho2 firewall in place. Now all the New Dell workstations (running xp)and hp printers can connect no problem to the domain and the outside world but 2 old dog machines running 98 and millenium can't and neither can a Dell inspiron 7000 running millenium. They are all on real world address'. (Don't ask me why I only arrived at the office the day before the dsl box went in)Now I thought it could be a dodgy port on the hub but I've plugged the inspiron into a known working port but still nothing. when I ipconfig/all the details are correct and all the other settings in the network properties seem correct but I just can't connect to anything or ping anywhere. I've un-installed and re-installed the cards and protocols but still nothing. The light on the cards are flashing but not on the hub. What am I missing? Please please please I'm desperate. I'm only at that office a few hours a week and it's taking all my time. I need to beat this and hope you can help. chrisjb@onetel.com

Chris

You'll need to enable guest account for your XP and Windows 2000 machines in order for WIN98 and WINME to access the shares. This is assuming you are on a peer to peer network.

Check also the subnet mask on the machines are correct especially if you're allocated only a portion of Class C.
