i see all these posts on how to stop image direct linking...but i need help on music files. my site is www.example.org, but i post my music on another site to host them. is there a way i can make the links only workable on my site because i've already found 2 websites using my links on their site and it's really bugging me. if you know how to stop this so the files only work on my site, please let me know through e-mail only.

<email snipped - lets keep the discussion on the board please>

i don't think i will be back on here, but you can if you want cause i made it so it will e-mail me when someone replies

thanks for the help! :)

idolfan,

The answer is exactly the same as for image hot-linking. You just have files named ".mp3" instead of ".jpg"
You can apply the same procedures you found in those image hot-linking threads, and just change the file extensions.

You will have to place the block functionality on the server which hosts your music files, and set it up to accept only your html-page server (or blank) as a referrer.

I encourage you to re-read those image-linking threads.

You will have to place the block functionality on the server which hosts your music files, and set it up to accept only your html-page server (or blank) as a referrer.

block functionality = .htaccess
Accept {HTTP_REFERER} of ^$ (blank) and idolfan only
