I'm having a very very strange problem.

I am unable to access a number of websites including webmasterworld and other websites I frequent like nytimes, hotmail etc. I am not able to access ALL the websites that I own. I am able to access Google.

When I hit the URL in the browser, the Google toolbar shows the pagerank of the website and then says "DONE".

Note: I'm able to access all the websites through Anonymizer.

It is as if my IP address has been banned from the websites I frequent.

The problem occurs with all the web browsers. I have done a virus check and I have run Ad-aware.

I have a DSL connection here. I'm trying to get my hands on a dial-up modem. The ISP tech support is closed today.

What could be wrong?

We're having similar problems. We are, though, able to access the affected sites via Opera most of the time and Netscape 7 sometimes.

We're networked on high-speed wireless. Now and then, we can get through, but for the most part, no dice.

It's been like this since last night, and I'm combing the web to try to find out why.

Update: I am able to access all the websites using Dial-up internet.

The problems seems to be with DSL internet connection only. My ISP is called Dishnet India and yes, it uses BT backbone.

But why are only a few sites being affected? Are Webmasterworld server, NYTimes server and my host in MN based in the same area?

Yes, now I see it. Strange enough after I submitted my post your message contained only a single dot.
