Blocking Hungry Spiders?

I've read a couple of interesting threads on different methods how to block bad spiders and bots. What I would like to know: is there a way to block a visitor (human or not) who has exceeded a given amount of bandwidth (e.g. 20-30 MB) in a single user session?

Not without some monitor running. That can either be at the server level, or through a program such as if your site offers session tracking. I've not heard of any really good off-the-shelf utilties to do it.
