Hi All,
Here is a strange situation that I came across and was wondering if anyone else had something similar.

When I FTP'd into one of my sites this morning I noticed a new text file in the root directory that I did not put there. With the exception of my self the only ones who have access are the hosting company I work with.

I already talked to the owner and he does not know anything about it. His only suggestion was that maybe someone got my user/password and to change it. I went over my http logs and could not find anything suspicious and asked them to send me the FTP logs for the same day that the file was created.

It is a text file named ****@17495788[2].txt where ***** is my first name and was created on January 23, 2003.

The file contains only one long line as follows:
HumanClickID
-***numbers****-***numbers****:***number****
hc2.humanclick.com/hc/***numbers****
***number****
***numbers****
***numbers****
***numbers****
***numbers*****
HumanClickKEY
***numbers****
hc2.humanclick.com/hc/***numbers****
***number****
***numbers****
***numbers****
***numbers****
***numbers****
*

Any ideas as to how this got in my root directory as I have never worked with Human Click?

It looks to me like a cookie file.

Hi there,

you are using a chat program and probably when installing the html code you allowed the program to add the code into your HTML by providing your USER ID and Password.

Key_Master,
you are correct, now that you mention it, it does look like a cookie file. Now I just have to figure out why it is in the root directory of my web site.

internetbrothers,
no I am not using the chat program. It has never been installed on my site or my computer here.
